Seller guide

Competitors rank for terms your listing never mentions.

How to find the keywords competitor listings use that yours does not, decide which are factually true for your product, and place them without copying protected text.

Coverage gaps are measurable

If a shopper's search words appear nowhere in your title, bullets, description, or backend terms, your listing is relying on the marketplace to infer relevance. Comparing your copy term-by-term against competitor copy you have gathered shows exactly which words they use and you do not.

Only add terms that are true for your product

A gap term is an opportunity only when it is factually accurate for what you sell. Adding unsupported terms — sizes, materials, certifications, compatibility — can breach marketplace policy and earn returns. Never copy competitor sentences or brand names into your listing.

Placement matters as much as presence

A term competitors use in every title deserves different treatment than one that appears once in a description. Prioritize terms used by several competitors in prominent fields, and test uncertain terms in backend search terms before changing customer-facing copy.
