Seller guide
How do I calculate Etsy sale or coupon margin after fees and Offsite Ads?
Apply a planned Etsy discount, independently recompute transaction, processing, and supplied Offsite Ads fees, and find the first price that still clears your contribution floor.
Start with the discounted transaction, not the list price
Record the current listing price and exactly one planned percentage discount or fixed target price. For a percentage sale, calculate and round the target to cents once. Keep product cost, other variable costs, seller-funded shipping subsidy, and the desired contribution floor beside the listing alias. A sale badge or coupon percentage says nothing about margin until every deduction is applied to the actual discounted amount.
Recompute Etsy fee components separately
Use the seller-supplied transaction-fee rate and basis additions to calculate the first fee, then use the seller-supplied payment-processing percentage, flat amount, and basis additions for the second. Round each fee independently to cents. Do not collapse the components into one remembered percentage: a flat processing charge and different shipping or gift-wrap basis treatment can change the result most on inexpensive items. The current terms in your Payment account are the source of truth.
Model Offsite Ads only as a supplied scenario
Apply the seller-supplied Offsite Ads percentage only when the seller marks that listing scenario applicable, and calculate it on its separately supplied basis. Keep the result visible beside the transaction and processing fees. Do not infer attribution, enrollment, or the rate from the order amount. Comparing applicable and not-applicable rows can show sensitivity, but it cannot predict whether a future sale will be attributed to an ad.
Solve for the floor after shipping subsidy and costs
Contribution is target price minus all independently rounded applicable fees, seller-funded shipping, product cost, and other variable cost. Compare it with the chosen floor, then search candidate prices upward by one cent until the floor is met. Convert that first viable cent to a maximum discount rounded down so percentage display rounding cannot cross the boundary. Keep non-positive, no-current-headroom, below-floor, and within-floor rows in separate bands.
Verify current terms before launching a sale or coupon
Recheck the listing price, sale target, shipping profile, transaction and processing terms, Offsite Ads observation, item costs, and floor in an authorized Etsy source. A fee, cost, or shipping change means the preflight should be rerun. Use the result to prepare a human review, not to automate a promotion. Friday reads no Etsy account or Payment account, decides no ad attribution or eligibility, launches no sale or coupon, publishes no listing, and changes nothing.
Tools that help with this
Prices below are exact x402 per-call prices. Human card checkout uses fixed $3, $9, and $29 bundles; follow a tool page to see its applicable bundle.
- Etsy Sale + Coupon Discount Margin Preflight ($0.50) — Calculate fee-aware Etsy target-price contribution and the first viable cent

Every paid output is a draft for your review before you publish, appeal, or activate anything. Friday does not access your seller account.
