Seller guide
What evidence should I prepare for an eBay payment dispute?
Build a redacted deadline and evidence queue from seller-supplied dispute records without guessing eBay's current requirements, sending a response, or predicting the outcome.
Copy the case deadline and request exactly
For each dispute, record a seller-owned reference, reason, status, amount, respond-by date, and the evidence types shown in the live Seller Hub case. Preserve the case wording and verification time because response windows, choices, and requirements can change. Do not replace the displayed deadline with a generic number of days from an old article. Rank open work by the supplied respond-by date, then verify the exact date and time in the live case before relying on it.
Redact buyer data before building the queue
The triage record usually needs a seller reference, reason, dates, amount, and evidence categories—not a buyer's name, address, email, message body, payment details, or full tracking record. Keep sensitive source documents in the seller's authorized system and use neutral evidence labels in the working queue. Redaction reduces exposure; it does not alter what a seller may need to review or submit through eBay's official flow.
Separate requested evidence from a preparation checklist
Mark each evidence item that the live case requests as provided or missing. Keep a second, clearly labelled preparation list—such as order and shipping records, proof of delivery, listing snapshot, item photos, return tracking, or an authorized communication record—based on the supplied reason. The second list is organizational, not a claim that eBay requires, accepts, or considers any item sufficient for this case.
Keep response choice and evidence readiness independent
A seller may need to accept or contest using the choices available in the live case. A complete checklist does not decide that choice, authenticate a document, or show that a contest will succeed. Conversely, an accepted dispute can remain in the ledger even when evidence is informational only. Record who will review the case and keep already responded, under-review, and resolved disputes separate from cases that still need action.
Reconcile the outcome after eBay records it
After a human responds through Seller Hub, record the response date and refresh the case status rather than assuming submission means resolution. When a refund, hold, protection, or adjustment appears in a settlement, reconcile that separate financial record to the seller reference. The organizer does not predict the dispute outcome, provide legal advice, send evidence, accept or contest a case, refund a buyer, or modify an eBay account.
